Do we as individuals have control over our own life? Or are we supposed to leave it up to fate and accept that certain things are just destined to happen? Cassie decides to take control of her life. Keeping herself firmly planted on the ground and deciding how her life is going to play out, she makes some concrete decisions. But perhaps fate has a stronger hold on all of us, regardless of the amount of control we think we have taken.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Lipstick Stain. It is a nice quick read with a lot of potential. Great artwork on the cover too!The main character, Cassie, is a woman many of us can identify with, and I like that the author has written such a believable character. How many of us has the insight to ask ourselves some of the questions Cassie does? And how honest are when we answer ourselves?
The opening scene pulled me right in, setting just the right atmosphere for the suspense to come, through Cassie's internal dialogue and the little peeks back in her life. When I got toward the end, I thought I could see how the story was going to end... the author did a good job setting the reader on that path... but then... the twist...
That final scene with Tom and Sylvia... brilliant and totally unexpected.
The Lipstick Stain certainly has potential as a larger novel, or... the beginning in a series of shorter stories.
Based solely on the premise of the story, I am giving The Lipstick Stain five stars. I am not part of the author's family and she has not paid me to read and review this story.
I would like to see a little cleaner editing, but that takes nothing away from the story... let me be very clear about that. And, you want to know something? You can pick out any ten books and I will find examples where the editing could use a little 'buffing up' in at least half of them. That is no reason though, to give a one star review, as an earlier reviewer did here. The Lipstick Stain deserves better than that.
Angelique... I do hope you take this story further. It definitely has possibilities, especially since as written, The Lipstick Stain could well be the beginning of a longer story, or somewhere in the middle. You have 'room' to go in either direction... more victims... back story on Sylvia definitely. I could totally see her as the main character. Get busy writing, sweetie! :)
Thank you for a very entertaining tale.

The Lipstick Stain edition by Angelique LaFontaine Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I felt this story was intriguing. I liked the use of the lipstick signature as a key clue. Lipstick Stain held my attention and ended with pilot potential for a crime drama series.
