Amelia Kate Saunders was born at 2.30am on Monday 2nd June 2008, into the arms of her parents, Chantal and Richard. She filled our lives with joy and laughter, her smile the most infectious you had ever seen.

Yet Amelia wasn't a normal child - she was sent to us for a reason, and we found that reason on the awful day in 2012 that we discovered she had brain cancer.

Finding out such news would shatter the lives of many, especially given the fact we were told there was nothing that could be done. There was no treatment, no cure.

But, with the help of thousands of people around the world, we fought, and we never gave up on our precious daughter. We kept smiling, making her life as normal as it could be, sharing our love and surrounding her with warmth.

I wrote this book to help people understand that no matter what you face, how big the mountain is that you have to climb, you should never give up. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and Amelia showed us the way.

All profits from the sale of this book will be donated to the Katy Holmes Trust for children's brain tumour research.

Saving Amelia eBook Richard Saunders

It's an excellent, but heartbreaking, book.

Honestly I think the Burzynski Clinic is a terrible place that takes advantage of peoples' suffering and desperation. Certainly I don't blame this family - if you found one thing that seemed to give you any chance at all, of course you'd take it - but I don't know how this guy takes peoples' money and sleeps at night.

But like I said, if you felt something was your only chance, of course you'd have to at least try. I so wish it had worked. The family seemed so hopeful for a time, and they seem like such lovely people.

Saving Amelia eBook Richard Saunders Reviews

I followed this sweet, loving family for so long. My heart breaks more and more every time her dad makes a post. The day she died I sat on my bed and cried like a baby even though I never met her. You are forever in my heart sweet girl!
Richard & Chantal Saunders have been through what no parent should ever have to, and yet they have done so with dignity and grace. This book fills in the gaps for those of us who followed their journey through the Amelia's Miracle Facebook page. If you are familiar with their Facebook page you will be well aware of Richard's ability to express what many of us would lack the words to say in his situation. He retells the story of Amelia's diagnosis with brain stem cancer in early 2012, through their brave decision to try to fight the disease until finally, devastatingly, Amelia passed away in January 2013. His writing is honest, candid and he paints a vivid, emotional picture. A tragic story, and one that touched me deeply, one of the things that makes this book so moving is reading how this family has dealt with their grief. Their strength and fortitude is simply inspirational, and this book will stay with you for a long time.

I am also delighted to know that the profits from the sale of this book are going to the Katy Holmes Trust, a charity set up by another family devastated by this disease. [...]
