This is a heartwarming M/M Christmas novella featuring a lonely human and the elf who loves him.
Wes hasn't had the nicest life. His parents died in a fire when he was 8, and he shuttled into foster care. He was adopted, but that parent died, too. He had a decent inheritance, makes a good living, yet has virtually no one to love, excepting his four sled dogs. He is also a kind and caring man, albeit a bit standoffish.
Garnet is a toymaker elf. He has grand ideas for a different life than his fellow elves he lost his heart to Wes many years ago and wants to see if there can ever be anything between them. See, Garnet hitchhiked on Santa's sleigh 15 years ago and met Wes who was mourning his lost parents. Garnet was young too, and sympathized, comforting Wes through the night. Ten years ago, Garnet hitchiked again, finding Wes for a brief chat and meal. He's kept an eye on Wes, hoping that Wes would find some peace, and growing steadily more enamored. And five years ago, he... you get the picture; Garnet can't stay away from Wes.
Thing is, Garnet's plan to knock on Wes' door and introduce himself, again, goes horribly wrong, and it's a Christmas miracle that Wes ends up rescuing Garnet. The two men bond over a quiet, comfortable meal, and a real affection develops as they spend time together...until the Big Guy shows up.
Will Saint Nick put these two asunder?
I really enjoyed this quiet Christmas romance. There's not a lot of heat, but the story sparks along with lots of heart. Wes and Garnet are so adorable together.

Just a really sweet holiday story about an elf the finally decides to go after the one he loves.
This was an adorable little short about an elf who falls in love with a human he’s watched over for years. Their connection was instant and yet they still took time for their relationship to grow. It left me with a smile on my face.
