Rumors of abuse at the hands of clergy make news today, but in 1960 even knowledge of it raised very few eyebrows. That’s because stern discipline was commonplace then and often encouraged; especially at religious institutions. So much so that no one in the small community of Mountain View Vermont was even a little surprised to learn yet another camper had run away from Crescent Lake; a religious summer camp catering to troubled boys with rich parents. Even the police weren’t overly concerned and only conducted token searches for runaway campers; any not found were assumed living in a commune, or on the streets of a big city. Then the skeletal remains of five victims were discovered, all runaways from that camp and killed in a manner that left no doubt in anyone’s mind; a twisted killer was on the loose. But Trooper Samuels’ prime suspect, the camp’s nasty director Father Leo, appears to be much too cleaver for the police. Then a tip from a camp employee, a hunch and a surprise maneuver catch the killer in the act of murdering his next victim.

I found myself scrolling through too much excessive stuff that didn't add to the story. I liked Samuels and his tenacity to see the case through to the end. The rest of it I found difficult to read. Too many descriptors that didn't really add anything to the story.Product details

The Crucifixion Murders Dan Sprague 9781468081572 Books Reviews
Dan Sprague is a great author. I literally could not put this book down until I finished the whole thing!
Mr. Sprague is a natural-born storyteller. This wonderful thriller, set in a New England prep school in the early '60s, kept me on the edge of my seat.
Good read. I'm approaching 70 and was not familiar with this story. Glad I found it.
I enjoyed this novel though there were some weak spots. The writing and story were entertaining and I would be interested to read more written by this author.
I don't like to write spoilers and note that the books review is accurate in it's discriptiion.
Started a little slow but quickly got better. I was really surprised by the twist at the end. Killer wasn't who I expected.
Definitely worth 5 stars. Yes there are minor typos (I too noticed where the word manor was used for manner twice). But it still kept my interest and when I got to the twist I did not see coming, I could not put it down until the end.
This was a decent story written by an obviously disgruntled Catholic. The spelling of many words (manor for manner)caused me to think the publisher couldn't afford a decent proofreader. Slightly sophomoric telling of a good story line.
I found myself scrolling through too much excessive stuff that didn't add to the story. I liked Samuels and his tenacity to see the case through to the end. The rest of it I found difficult to read. Too many descriptors that didn't really add anything to the story.
