"Sara, the Psychic Sleuth" is a modern day teen series, following the historical prologues of her mysteriously gifted kin entitled "Virtuous Bewitchment Escape from Salem" (era 1620) and "Sophie Suffragette" (era 1910).
Thirteen year old, Sara Neuman, inherited a psychic gift from her maternal side of the family of predicting the future and the ability to move things at will. Something, her single dad, David Neuman, is unable to cope with or understand, after years of trying. His only solution, following another devastating relationship break-up and work-related issues, is to move back East to seek guidance from her grandmother. Coupled with becoming a teenager, Sara depends on her Granny’s advice on how to control her energy surges while seeking acceptance for who she is.
Part one, ‘New Beginnings’, depicts a menagerie of problems that Sara must learn to overcome, through her Granny’s teachings, on how to control and use her gift in a socially accepted manner. During the following year as her granny’s health declines, Sara endures both ostracism and depression while assisting her dad in finding someone who is compatible to the family’s needs to become her new stepmother.
In part two, ‘The Psychic Squad’, Sara, with the help of her new stepmother and friends, is able to use her gifts more appropriately, to warn others of impending danger, while discovering new talents and her first love.
This is a compelling, magical story of a teen, despite many losses and hardships, who finds a new meaning to life. While finessing her gifts, she matures into a talented young teen, who has learned how to accept herself, while making a difference to those around her.

An interesting book with humor about a teen girl who must compensate for her special abilities while overcoming real life problems in the process. Loved it, fun to read and anxious to read the sequels.
Although Sara is psychic this book does not go too far into the realm of being unrealistic. She gets feelings that good or bad things are going to happen to people when she meets them or is touched by the individual. Her ESP or psychic abilities are strong and perceptive. This leads to many adventures and happenings. When she is around computers they crash if she gets anxious, uncharacteristic things happen to teachers who dislike her for being different. Her abilities have limits as she cannot predict the stock market or lotto numbers.
This book covers two entire school years and the reader experiences regular and Alternative Ed classes. Sara helps students with their problems which she helps solve. Homelessness and foster care students are involved in the adventures. There is the usual teenage meanness towards one another that girls generally encounter. Almost every chapter has Sara's special abilities getting involved and fixing things. She obviously gets into trouble in school because of this. There is never a boring chapter. Something is constantly happening to keep the reader's attention.
The author is extremely good at dialogue between characters and this is a great strength in this particular book. It flows so naturally. The dialogue between the characters really tells the story and girls could learn a lot from all the people and the way they communicate between each other. Although this is a book for teenagers, adults of all ages will enjoy it. Parents may learn communication skills and talking techniques to use with their teenagers.

Really cute story but, like every kindle YA book I've downloaded, way too many spelling, punctuation, and usage mistakes. Too many to ignore.
Even with the teen angst this was a fun read. It was interesting to read about the dynamics between the characters and the humour was subtle but right-on point.
I didn't finish this book--just couldn't get into it. I read about the first 25%, but nothing interesting ever seemed to happen.
Sara the psychic south is a fascinating story. The plot is great and it flows. I love the characters and it was an enjoyable read. I couldn't wait to read the following books. Keep up the great work.
